Woven Rug Gallery was established by Mr. Farhad Akar in 1996. Prior to opening his store in the heart of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Mr. Akar already had many years of experience in the oriental rug trade industry.

Mr. Akar, has traveled the world to uncover those treasures hidden somewhere far-off in countries like China, Japan, India, Nepal, Turkey, Pakistan and so forth. His life spent around rugs has made him expert in this business.

Mr.Akar travels in search of decorative and exquisite pieces for his clientele from all parts of the world and also for other rug dealers at their request. In fact, all of the Caucasian rugs at Woven Rug Gallery are purchased and brought back by Mr. Akar himself; he travels to the small villages of the Caucus mountains to find pieces that are uniquely designed and hand-woven by experienced weavers who only use naturally hand-dyed wool of the highest quality.
